Doris Jane Beaver

Doris “Jane” Beaver, 90, passed away on Monday, May 7, 2018. Jane was born November 30th 1927 at Bethany Hospital in Kansas City, KS to Noel B. and Agnes Scott. Jane spent her early years in Argentine, before growing up in the Merriam area. She was married to M.J. Beaver in 1951 and they raised three sons, Jeff, Joel, and Jon. Jane worked for many years in Olathe as the Children’s Librarian and she was a part of the Olathe Read Circle.  Jane and M.J. and their family were active members of Merriam Christian Church for over 65 years.  Jane served the church in many capacities, including as Historian and singing in the choir.            Jane is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son Jeffrey Scott Beaver. She is survived by her son Joel, and his wife Patti, and her son Jon and his wife Lynne. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tyler, Kate, Mary, Victoria, and Jonathan and her great-grandchild Bailey as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends.           Jane was a kind soul, who always had a smile and good word for those she loved and encountered. She believed in the power of reading, and the value of education. Jane was a fixture in the lives of her family. Known to her grandchildren as “Grandma in the basement”, she was active and involved in their lives and delighted in seeing each of them often. Her passing will leave a void in the journeys of those who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held at Amos Family Funeral Home on Thursday, May 10th from 6:00-8:00 PM.  Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 12th at Merriam Christian Church, 9401 Johnson Dr, Merriam, KS 66203.  Burial at Monticello Union Cemetery.
