Dorothy S. Housh, 86, of Merriam, passed away Friday, June 28, 2013, at her home.

Dorothy was born to the late Earl and Grace Sood in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She is also preceded in death by her husband Gerald Housh and brother, James Sood.

Dorothy was actively involved with Crosslines Community Outreach. On any day you could find Dorothy helping in the food pantry, gathering clothes, or preparing meals for the less fortunate.

Dorothy leaves behind her four children, Liz (Roy) Wyer, Barb (Gary) Loumaster, Dan (Gayle) Price, Chip (Joanna) Treas; step-children, Sheryl Stack, Terry Housh, 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 2 nephews and a niece.

She was a strong, independent woman who lived life to the fullest. To quote Dot, "Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and proclaiming, "Wow, what a ride!!!"

A Celebration of Dot’s life will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday July 8, 2013 at the Edelweiss Clubhouse, 7201 Switzer, Merriam, KS 66203. There will be a short service at 6 p.m. leaving the rest of the evening to remember a life well lived.

Due to her dedication to Crosslines, the family suggests memorial contributions to Crosslines Community Outreach, 736 Shawnee Avenue, Kansas City, Kansas 66105.
