Dorothy “Dottie” Schiavo

Dorothy "Dottie" Schiavo, 91, of Olathe, Kansas passed away December 1, 2016.

Dottie was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Richard and Alberta Bergmann. She went into the Navy after high school and served as a WAVE in Pensacola, Florida where she met her husband, Joe. Her husband, Joseph R. Schiavo, daughter, Patricia Ann, mother Alberta (nee Lehnhoff), step mother Anna (nee Tuscano), father Richard Bergmann and brother, Robert Bergmann precede her in death. She is survived by her daughters, Kathy (John) Hamilton of Springfield, Missouri and Cindy (Jim) Courtney of Overland Park, Kansas, her grandchildren, Jenny (Marc) Straub, Tom (Julie) Hamilton, Natalie Courtney and Mike Courtney, great grandson, Kristian Hamilton, and her niece, Nancy (Neil) Kelly and their children.

Dottie was a member of St. Ann's Parish in Prairie Village, Kansas for many years, St. Ann's Bridge Group, Overland Park Trail Blazers, and the Navy WAVE League. She was a leader in Girl Scouts for several years.

A memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, December 16th at Santa Marta Retirement Community, 13800 W. 116th St., Olathe, KS 66062; inurnment will be 1:15 p.m. Friday at the Resurrection Cemetery with Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations are made to Girl Scouts of NE Kansas & NW Missouri, Alzheimer's Association or the charity of your choice.
