Dorothy Anne Keating VanHoet passed away December 2, 2013, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.

Dorothy Anne Keating VanHoet was born on the 4th of July, 1924, to Angela Lally Keating and Richard Leo Keating. Dorothy Anne was proud of her Irish heritage and proud to be an American! She attended Guardian Angel Grade School in Kansas City, Missouri, and St. Joseph High School in Shawnee Kansas.

After graduation she went to work for North American Aviation. Later she worked for Southwestern Bell, then Falconer Furniture, Mercantile Bank and Trust Co., and finally at the Shawnee Bank, in Shawnee Kansas, where she remained until she retired. In 1973 she married our gentle Joseph R. VanHoet (deceased). After retirement she volunteered at Holy Spirit Catholic Grade School and Overland Park Regional Hospital.

Her pride and joy were her daughter Kathleen Rohr, son-in-law Jack Rohr, her two grandsons, Jeffrey Joseph Rohr (Betsey Gant) and Daniel Patrick Rohr (wife Ashley Knight Rohr) brother-in-law William Charlton, and her many nieces and nephews.

Our strength, our wisdom, our comic relief, our inspiration, our rock. The one that taught us "impossible is nothing" and to "smile throughout the whole journey".

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Richard John Keating, sisters, Mary Alice Charlton, Genevieve Watson, and Rosemary Keating.

Services

Visitation will be from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m., with the Rosary at 6:30 p.m., Friday, December 6, 2013, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 W. 103rd Street, Overland Park, Kansas 66214. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 6:45 p.m. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 7, 2013, St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Shawnee Kansas.
