Dorsie Alice Cline

d. July 26, 2013

Dorsie Alice (Vess) Cline, 91, 1921-2013, passed away at Garden Terrace Life Care Center on July 26, 2013.

A depression baby, she always remembered her roots. Milan, Missouri, was her home before her family moved to Texas where her father found a job working in the oil fields. She was a member of the girls' basketball team at Milan High School and always loved basketball. At Bay Town High School in Texas, she was voted the most beautiful girl in her class.

After graduation from high school, she became a beautician and formed lifelong friendships with people she worked with at that time. She worked in Caracas, Venezuela for a while then New York City, followed by Indianapolis and finally she moved to Kansas City where she met her future husband.

Dorsie married Donald Wayne Cline on October 13th, 1954. They enjoyed 58 years together. Dorsie was a great mother to two children, Craig Alan Cline and Christi Alyce (Cline) Walter. Dorsie loved to read and worked as an elementary school librarian in the Kansas City school district for several years. Later she became a licensed real estate agent and was a successful realtor. Always ready to explore new avenues she also enjoyed oil painting, photography, traveling, classical music, baseball and bird watching. When her physical condition made it difficult for her to get out and about she got a computer and explored the world through the internet.

Dorsie is survived by Don Cline (husband), Craig Cline (son), Christi Walter (daughter), Stephanie Cline, Matthew Cline, Dylan Walter, and Sean Walter (grandchildren), Abram Cline and Sophie Cline (great grandchildren), Oma Vess (sister), Abbie Cline (daughter-in-law) and Ron Walter (son-in-law). Dorsie's parents, Clarence and Ida Vess, preceded her in death.

A celebration of her life will be held at Amos Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at 4:30-7:00 pm with a short memorial at 6:30 p.m. Later, in a private ceremony her ashes will be freed at the Rose Garden of Unity Village.
