Douglas S. Luka

Douglas Scott Luka, 61, passed away Wednesday April 11, 2018, surrounded by his loving wife and daughters. Doug was born June 29, 1956 in Chicago, IL to the late James Lee and Ruth Arlene Luka.

Doug was a devoted loving husband, father and grandfather.  One of his favorite places to be was the Lake of the Ozarks where he enjoyed boating, fishing and being around family and friends. Doug loved a good steak and BBQ. Winning several ribbons and BBQ contests others agreed. He especially enjoyed spending time with his 9 grandchildren.

Doug owned and operated Luka Irrigation where he employed approximately 300 people over 20 years plus years. Later running Luka Services working with repossessed homes.

The family wants to give a special thanks to Erica and Crispian at Kansas City Hospice. Thank you to UMKC clinical trials, oncologist team of Stewart Hinton. Thank you to Daryl Rhoades and team in Topeka, KS.

Doug will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 25 years Shannon Luka, children, stepchildren, grandchildren, and siblings. Daughter’s Amanda Lee Dunn (Luka) and Darryl Dunn, Kathleen Martinez (Luka) & Edwin Martinez. Stepchildren John Schaber, David Schaber, Robert Schaber. Grand children Edwin Martinez, Vincent Martinez, Evan Martinez, Elaina Martinez, Matthew Dunn, Shaun Dunn, Lukas Dunn, Ty Schaber and Eli Schaber. Siblings June Puzon (Luka) and Marty Puzon, Sharon Luka, David Luka, Gregory & Cleo Luka, and James Luka Jr.

Visitation on Friday, April 13, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Dr., Shawnee, KS 66203.  Funeral service on Saturday, April 14, at 10:00 AM also at Amos Family Funeral Home.  Burial at St. Joseph Cemetery in Shawnee, KS.
