Dr. Gerald Dale Wigginton, DO, passed away peacefully, December 1, 2015 surrounded by family, after a courageous 5 year battle with ALS.

He was born in Kansas City, MO on February 18, 1944 to Thomas Mathew and M. Jane Wigginton, He attended De La Salle High School, KCU (UMKC) where he was a member of Phi Delta Chi professional fraternity. Gerald graduated with a pharmacy degree and then attended KCCOM, followed by an internship and residency at Children's Mercy Hospital. He was founder of Johnson County Pediatrics in Shawnee Mission, KS and was one of the first Osteopathic Physicians to become board certified by the AMA. He was the first Osteopath to be admitted to the hospital staff of Shawnee Mission, Olathe, St. Luke's, Research, Menorah, St. Mary's, Independence Medical Center, St. Margaret's and Baptist. He was president and member of the board of directors of Shawnee Mission Hospital and chairman of their Neonatal committee.

Gerald married Ann Stockton in 1967. He loved to golf, fish, and work in his garden, read, cook and travel. He also was very involved in following and researching the stock market and belonged to several investment clubs. In his younger years he also loved to play tennis. But most of all he loved being with his family. He and Ann moved to Lake Quivira in 1974 where he was a coach for various children's sports, active in cub scouts, and served on the Quivira board of directors and QMGA. He was a long time member of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church.

Gerald is preceded in death by his mother and father, and brother, Terry Kent Wigginton. He leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Ann; three sons, Gerald Thomas (Mikell), Todd Charles (Joy), Timothy Dale, and a daughter Tamara Ann Jackson, He was blessed with nine grandchildren, Tyler and Josh Jackson; Lorelei, Wyatt, Blake, Rory, and Luke Wigginton; Mya and Bradford Wigginton; and two step grandchildren, Jacob and Jordan Blankenship. He also leaves behind a sister-in-law Gracie Wigginton, brother-in-law Andy Stockton, and father in-law Charles Stockton (Betty).

Services will be held at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church 6630 Nall Ave., Mission, KS. The family will receive friends following the service.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, December 5, 2015 at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church 6630 Nall Ave., Mission, KS. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
