Duane Lloyd Biggs

July 26, 1933 — January 4, 2017

Duane Lloyd Biggs, 83, Shawnee Kansas formerly of Omaha, Nebraska passed away on January 4, 2017. Duane L Biggs, born July 26, 1933, the third son of Leslie and Mary Gladys Biggs in Palmyra, NE. After finishing high school, Duane attended Peru State College until he joined the Navy. A Navy veteran of the Korean War, he learned about electronics which later served him in his Biggs TV business. He was stationed in Guam and found lifelong friendships. Upon returning from the Navy, he met the new Home Economics school teacher in Palmyra, NE - Shirley Gies. Duane and Shirley married November 1957. They lived in Norfolk, NE for several years and relocated to Omaha in 1969. As the Superintendent of Douglas County Highways and Roads. He enjoyed being outside, relaxing on the back deck, fishing, and was an avid griller. He developed a lever system to manage the heat in a grill and had as US Patent on it. He always held a sense of humor that he role modeled for his 4 kids and 10 grandchildren. He was a Mason and member of the Shriners. Duane is survived by his children; Roxann (David) Quarnstrom, Mitch (Tammy) Biggs, Jani (David) Johnson, Lesley (Jack) McGrath, ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two brothers, and one sister. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Shirley.

A Memorial Service is set for 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Shawnee Hills, 6335 Maurer Road, Shawnee, Kansas 66217.
