Duane Paul “Duke” Grismore

Duane Paul "Duke" Grismore, 80, Shawnee, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Merriam, Kansas.

Duane was born August 27, 1932, in Corydon, Iowa, to Ben and Beth Grismore. He attended Iowa State University. On February 13, 1953, Duane married Janet Ryan. They moved to Kansas City where he began working for the Rock Island Railroad. He later became Executive Editor of Commodity News Services, followed by a membership at the Chicago Board of Trade. Duane left the commodity business and started Chem-Rail Transport Inc. which he owned and operated until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Grismore; two sons, Steve (Susan) Grismore, Kansas City, Missouri and Mark (Edie) Grismore, Shawnee, Kansas; two daughters, JoLynn (Keith) Kissinger, Shawnee, Kansas and Brenda Grismore, Edwardsville, Kansas; sister, Barbara (Bob) Hellyer, Chariton, Iowa; brother, Stan (Janet) Grismore, Wheaton, Illinois; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 7, 2012, at the Amos Family Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.
