Duane Kenneth Hinkle, 70, of Overland Park, KS passed away Monday, September 27, 2021 at the Olathe Hospice House. Duane will be laid to rest at 12;30 p.m. Friday, October 8, 2021 at Leavenworth National Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Chains of Hope, P.O. 16926; Kansas City, MO 64133. Duane was born November 13, 1950 to the late Kenneth and Ellen (Johnston) Hinkle in Garnett, Kansas. He graduated from Garnett High School in 1969. After graduating Duane enlisted in the United States Army and served in Vietnam as an Armor Crewmember. When he returned from military service, Duane started work as a conductor for the Union Pacific Railroad. Duane enjoyed traveling with his son, Justin. He also enjoyed play cards at the casino and cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs. Duane also enjoyed listening to Oldies, especially Elvis. He retired in 2012 from the railroad after 30 years of service. Duane is survived by his sons, Justin Hinkle; Jeff Hinkle; a grandson, Logan Linder; two brothers, Dale Hinkle and wife Carolyn; Dean Hinkle and wife Cindy; and grand-dog Buddy.
