Eamiel W. “Sonny” Gerber

Eamiel W. "Sonny" Gerber, 87, Kansas City, KS passed away Friday, Jan. 22, 2021 at the Providence Med. Ctr., Kansas City, KS.

Sonny was born Nov. 18, 1933 in Kansas City, KS to Arnold and Gladys (Stoner) Gerber. He was a 1951 graduate of Turner High School. On March 25, 1953, Sonny married Gloria Jean Howard in Kansas City, KS He was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean War.

Sonny started working with his grandfather at Gerber Moving and Storage a family owned business. Sonny had other jobs including the American Can Co.  and Sambol Meat Packing Co. Later he went into business partnership with his brother's at Gerber Moving and Storage. Following retirement from the family business he owned and operated his own business driving a dump truck and finally was a bus driver, for 13 years, for the Turner School District.

Sonny was preceded death by his wife, Gloria, on July 21, 2012 and three sisters, Patricia Carver, Beverly Burke and Janice Burke. Survivors include his two sons, Jim Gerber and Jeff Gerber; daughter, Julie Gerber; two brothers, Ronnie Gerber and Bill Gerber; sister, Pam Gerber; and four grandchildren, Amanda, Alyssa, Alexa and Jackson Gerber.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, Jan. 29 at the Amos Family Funeral Home; entombment in the Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
