Earl E. Anderson, 90, Roeland Park, Kansas passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at his home.
Earl was born August 23, 1919 in Hillsboro, Iowa to Hugh I. and Lois M. (Knauff) Anderson. He graduated from North High School and business college in Des Moines, Iowa. He was a staff sergeant in the US Army during WWII. He was in the 148th Field Artillery Battalion in the Philippines and Japan where he was present for the signing of the treaty to end the war with Japan. On December 5, 1943, Earl married Marion E. Andreas at the Salvation Army in Kansas City, Missouri. Earl retired from the Shawnee Mission School District in 1985 after 15 years of service. His first love was working in hardware stores, where he started when he was 13 years old. He was a life member of the VFW Isadore Hoehn Post #7397, National Honor Society, Roeland Park United Methodist Church and a past member of the Isaac Walton League. Earl enjoyed bowling with the Roeland Park United Methodist Church bowling league and was a premier jigsaw puzzler.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Howard W. Anderson and granddaughter, Barbara Bixler. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Marion E. (Andreas) Anderson; three daughters, Meloa Gallup, Overland Park, Kansas, Donna Blackwell, Roeland Park, Kansas and Mary Bradley and husband, Walter, Tonganoxie, Kansas; son-in-law, William Blackwell, Roeland Park, Kansas; sister-in-law, Velma Anderson, Spirit Lake, Iowa; three grandchildren, Shawn Gallup, wife, Amy, Bonner Springs, Kansas, Kaylynne Blackwell, Roeland Park, Kansas and Wil Blackwell, Prairie Village, Kansas; four great grandchildren, Kendall Bixler, Enola, Pennsylvania, Justin and Jessica Gallup, Bonner Springs, Kansas and Caley Bradley, Tonganoxie, Kansas; two nieces, Linda (Robert) Reaney and Jane (Thomas) Waller; six nephews, Bill (Juanita) Weber, John (Lois) Weber, David (Shirley) Weber, Michael (Bonnie) Weber, Richard (Martha) Weber and Patrick (Marilyn) Weber; honorary grandchildren, Regina Quaas, Jeremy Johnson and Heidi Johnson; honorary nieces, Lisa Bingham and Heidi Bailey and many other family and friends.

Visitation and Funeral Service
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 7, 2009 at the Roeland Park United Methodist Church; burial in the Green Lawn Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 6, 2009 at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee.
