Eddie L. Reed

Eddie L. Reed, 80, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away on May 20th, 2017.  He was born on September 14th, 1936 to Orville and Marie Reed, in Metz, Missouri.  On July 2, 1955, he married Patsy Williams, who survives him.  Although he had no biological children, he was a "father" to many who adored him.

Eddie was a UMKC alumnus and Kansas City Business College grad.  He served five years in the US Army, stationed in Nuremberg, Germany.  Eddie was employed by The James S. Merritt Co., serving as Plant Comptroller, Office Manager, and Purchasing Manager.  He also was owner/operator of Reed Business Services.  Eddie was a member of Merriam Christian Church where he held the positions of Elder, Trustee, General Treasurer, Finance Chair, and Chairman of the Board.  He also led a Bible Study Class for over 30 years, and taught the Berea Sunday School Class.  Eddie was a faithful volunteer for many causes, and worked diligently for the Johnson County Election Board for over 20 years.  One of his favorite causes was as a Tax Preparer for AARP.  He was a quiet unassuming gentle man.

Visitation to be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at the Amos Family Funeral Home.  Memorial Service will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 26, 2017, at Merriam Christian Church, 9401 Johnson Dr, Merriam, Kansas 66203.
