Edith Overholser

d. August 11, 2012

Edith Overholser, 78, Olathe, Kansas, passed peacefully into heaven at her home on Saturday, August 11, 2012.

Born in Grinnell, Iowa, Edith spent her early years on the farm as daughter to James and Jennie Livezey. She loved spending time on the farm, squirrel hunting with her father, helping her mother with household work, tending to chores, and enjoying the freedom of the farm with her brothers and sisters. She graduated as valedictorian of her high school class, graduated from Simpson College where she sang in the choir, and has since fulfilled many roles in her life-teacher, secretary, homemaker, seamstress, devoted wife, loving mother, and most of all, quiet adventurer. She played a smart hand of bridge, and enjoyed challenging herself to a good crossword or sudoku puzzle. She sang in the Shawnee Mission Women's Chorale, was active in the Lambda Tau Delta sorority, and particularly enjoyed spending time with family, neighbors and friends in various social and volunteer activities.

She is predeceased by her parents and her sisters Alice Morgan and Gertrude Higdon. She is survived by her husband Lyndon E. Overholser; her sister Thelma Worden of Urbandale, Iowa; brothers Robert Livezey of Olathe, Kansas, Leonard Livezey of Kennewick, Washington, and Walter Livezey of Buffalo, Wyoming; daughters and sons-in-law Cyndi and Mike Mullen of Frisco, Texas, Sonia Overholser and Dale Wiggins of Phoenix, Arizona, Linda Overholser and Kent Osborne of Littleton, Colorado, and Lisa Overholser of Albany, New York; grandchildren Christopher and Kendall Mullen of Frisco, Texas; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Memorial service and reception will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 18, 2012, at the Amos Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
