Edith Ann Powers, 84, of Kansas City, KS passed away Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Bonner Springs Nursing Home.

Edie was born December 8, 1935 to the late Ira and Alice Haxton in Sabetha, KS.  After high school, Edie earned a bachelor's of education from Emporia State University in 1957.  Edie worked for over 25 years as an Executive Secretary with Skateland Company.  She retired in 2000.  She was an member of Open Door Baptist Church for over 30 years.  Edie enjoyed being active in women's ministry and was a proud member of the church's Sonshiner Senior Group.  She loved to spread her faith by leading bible study classes for over 25 years.

Edie is preceded in death by her husband Eugene, two sons, Mark Orr and Tony Orr.  She is survived by her children, Danny Orr and wife Emma; Kevin Orr; Kelly Carter and husband Ed; Bert Powers; 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Visitation and Services

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, September 25 at Open Door Baptist Church, 3033 N. 103rd Terrace, Kansas City, KS 66109.  A celebration of Edie's life will follow at 11 a.m. at the church.
