Edna B. Marx Garrett, Lenexa, Kansas, passed away peacefully May 2, 2010 after a long battle with rheumatoid arthritis.
Born April 6, 1929 to Joseph and Edna (Gangel) Marx, she was second of eleven children. She was a 1946 graduate of Shawnee Mission Rural High School. Edna loved her family faithfully and unconditionally and was always eager to help. She will be remembered for her contagious smile, compassion and kindness as well as her relentless courage and perpetual resilience. Her special gift was a remarkable, unique sense of humor- always keeping times light when they were dark.
She passed away surrounded by her family to whom she had complete devotion. Edna's passing leaves us with deep feelings of sorrow but joy for her peace.
She is survived by William M. Garrett, her husband of 62 years; five children, sons, Robert J. and companion Irene; John E. and Jeffrey L. and companion Cindy; and daughters, Marsha and husband, Eric Nordman, Lori and companion, Nancy. Edna was preceded in death by her son, William, her parents and a brother.
The family extends much appreciation and gratitude for the assistance and support received from Ms. Monique Graham, Connie Williams, Kathy Dixon, Colleen McDermott and Paul Garrison of Crossroads Hospice.

Visitation and Funeral Service
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m., Thursday, May 6, 2010, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee, where a rosary recitation will be at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am, Friday, May 7, 2010, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church; entombment in the Mausoleum at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas.
