Edward Adam Deutscher, 98, of Shawnee, Kansas, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 14, 2013.
Edward was born near Ellis, Kansas, on June 5, 1915, to Jacob and Jennie Deutscher. He was a member of the United States Army and served as an Engineer Sergeant. During WWII, he spent three years in Europe. During his life, he managed a lumber yard, a wheat elevator, a gas station and a carpet business. He also owned a gas station and was a plumber, a carpenter, an electrician, and a carpet installer. His main hobby throughout his life was helping others by fixing this or that and building this or that. He was also a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Ellis, Kansas.
Prior to passing, Edward said, "I outlived them all", referring to his first and second cousins. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, people listened.
Edward is preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Deutscher, who passed on December 28, 1986.
Edward is survived by his wife of 25+ years, Laura M. Deutscher, of Shawnee, Kansas; his son with Laura, Douglas E. Chambers (Virginia) and his son with Minnie, Greg J. Deutscher (Sharon); grandsons, Loren C. Chambers (Michele), Joby J. Chambers, Douglas L. Chambers (Aimee) and Gabriel M. Chambers, and Eli Deutscher; granddaughters, Amanda M. Chappelow (Jake), Virginia L. Chambers, and Amanda McAbee (Jay); great grandchildren, Colten, Kendall, Harrison, Miles, Ethan, Samuel and Aryel; and sister-in-law, Lavance Norton of Beloit, Wisconsin.
Edward will be buried in Ellis, Kansas. Graveside services will be determined at a later date.
