Edward Anthony Schmiedeler

July 5, 1941 — January 27, 2015

Edward Anthony Schmiedeler, 73, Overland Park, KS passed away Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015 at his home.

Ed was born July 5, 1941 in Kansas City, MO to Frank and Goldie Schmiedeler. He was in the first graduating class of Bishop Miege High School in 1959. He attended Donnelly College and received a bachelor's degree in accounting from Rockhurst College. He started his career in 1964 as the accountant for Sandy Inc. and retired from there at the end of 2001.

In 1963, he married Linda G. Corder and they had four children. In 1995, he married Bonnie Leschin, who survives him.

Ed was preceded in death by parents, and brothers, Jack and Louis.

He is survived by sons Marty (Ann) of Topeka, Nick (Cindy) of Lawrence, and Dan (Jen) of New York City as well as daughters Susan Fears (Scott) of Shawnee and Laurie Anderson of Overland Park. Grandchildren Kelsey, Anthony, Ben, Perry, Cooper, Harrison, Bonnie, Marta, Goldie, and Henry knew him as Opa. As well as his sister, Jeannie Ising (Ed), St. Louis.

At home and in the community he loved and respected outdoor life. He was a collector, a coach, a Cubmaster, a lover of arts, movies, gardening, history, books, cars, and entertaining.

A visitation will be 12:00-1:00 pm followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 pm Saturday, Jan. 31 at the Amos Family Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in the Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS.

In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to either Kansas Dept. of Wildlife, Parks & Tourism (Wildtrust Account in memo), or the Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge.
