Edward L. Siegel, MD, 75, of Shawnee, Kansas, died January 23, 2021.
Edward was born in Santa Monica, California, April 2, 1945, to Jeanette and Clarence Siegel. He was a graduate of the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, and completed his postgraduate medical training in Diagnostic Radiology and Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the University of Virginia Hospitals.
Dr. Siegel was a pioneer in the field of Vascular and Interventional Radiology. He came to Kansas City in 1989 to practice at Kansas University Medical Center as the first formally trained interventional radiologist in the area. There he organized the first interventional radiology training program in the region, and was active in developing and perfecting many of the interventional procedures and implements in common use today. Dr. Siegel retired in 2000 due to health issues.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Debra, his brother David of Memphis, TN, and his sister Toni of Palm Springs, CA.
