Edwin I. Minter, 86, passed away on January 2, 2015. He was born May 30, 1928 in Liberty Missouri to Edwin and Mary Minter. In his youth he moved to Rosedale, Kansas working as car hop at the Rosedale BBQ for 10 cents an hour. He graduated from Rosedale High School where he starred in football, track and field receiving all city honors. Edwin served in the U.S. Navy in Long Beach California from 1946-1948. When he returned to Kansas City he began his work at Coca Cola, and then worked for Kansas City Power and Light as a lineman for 36 ½ years. In 1960 Edwin made a commitment and dedication to his God Jehovah. He found much enjoyment and gratification in the door to door ministry as well as many other congregation activities. He was an avid K.C. Chiefs, Royals and KU Jayhawk fan, he thoroughly enjoyed Frank Sinatra, Big Band music, and Jazz. Edwin loved people of all color and race. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling, and playing cards with friends. Edwin is survived by his wife, Sarah, brother, Bill Minter, son, Michael (Cindy) Minter, daughter, Carey (Donnie) Lane, Sarah's children, Julie (Matt) Wall, Angela King, James (Jennifer) King, , and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren. Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, son, Daniel J. Minter, aunt/uncle, George (Maggie) Dill.
A Memorial Service has been scheduled for 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 10, 2015 at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses 14285 Midland Drive Shawnee, Kansas 66216 with a Celebration of Life immediately following from 3:00 - 6:00 PM at Shawnee Town Hall 11600 Johnson Drive Shawnee, Kansas 66203.
Memorial Contributions in Edwin's name may be made to American Diabetes Association.
