Edwina Marie Fritz

Marie Fritz, 84, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away March 22, 2011.

Marie was born October 14, 1926, in Akron, Ohio, to William E "Stoney" and Betty (Hedrick) Stone. She grew up in Millville, Kentucky, and attended Translyvania University in Lexington, Kentucky, where she met her husband Dr. Harry G. Fritz of Portsmouth, Ohio. After raising seven children Marie worked at the Hiersteiner Child Development Center where she retired at age 80.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband Harry Fritz and by her daughter Betty K. Fritz. She is survived by her children; Harry Fritz, Jr. (Nita), Edwin Fritz (Ann), Grace Fritz, William Fritz (Susan), John Fritz (Kelly), and Richard Fritz (Janine). She is also survived by her sister, Ann Ellis (Clenet) and 15 beloved grandchildren.

Contributions may be made to the Hiersteiner Child Development Center at JCCC or Sunflower Healthcare (Hospice).

Visitation and Funeral Service

A visitation will be held from 11:30 to 1:00 pm, Friday, March 25, 2011, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas.
