Elaine A. Megee, 93, passed away February 12, 2020 at Silvercrest College View in Lenexa, Ks.
Elaine was born September 13, 1926 to Layman and Goldina Arnold at her maternal grandparent's farm located on the bank of the Little Niangua River near Preston, Mo. She grew up in the Northeast section of Kansas City, Missouri where her father owned an Ice and Coal company. Her mother was a nurse at a psychiatric hospital.
Elaine attended College at Central Missouri State University (CMSU) where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in home economics. She was a Delta Zeta Sorority member. While at CMSU she met and married her husband of 60 years, Wiley B. Megee. At the time, Wiley was in the Navy. She and her husband lived in Mission, Kansas. Elaine was a devoted Daughter, Wife, Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Friend.
She loved to travel. At one time she and Wiley lived in Great Britain while he worked on the North Sea building a refinery. While they were there they extensively traveled Great Britain and Europe. They also traveled to Alaska, the Mediterranean and throughout the United States.
Elaine was an active member of Countryside Christian Church, Mission, Ks. She had a strong faith in God and actively participated in many bible study groups at the church and her residences up until her death. She always was always available to help and comfort family and friends in times of need. She loved to socialize with her friends and especially loved picnics.
One of Elaine's enjoyable activities was Tonkawa. She attended that club almost until her passing. After raising her three sons, she went back to teaching home economics at Northeast Jr High School in Kansas City, Missouri and taught there for 25 years.
Elaine was preceded in death by her mother, sister and husband. Survivors include her sons Michael, Mark and Robert and their wives Sharon, Judy, and Rozanne. She had seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 am at Countryside Christian Church 6101 Nall Ave, Mission, KS 66202 on Tuesday February 18, 2020. Services will follow at 11:00 am. Burial to follow at Floral Hills Cemetary 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made out to Countryside Christian Church, 6101 Nall Ave, Mission, KS 66202.
