Eleanor Townley LaCombe of Shawnee, KS, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, after a rare complication from a cardiac procedure.

She was born on September 22, 1926 to Ray and Edna (Moon) Townley. Eleanor grew up in Olathe, KS attending Central Grade School and graduated from Olathe High School in 1944. She lived in Johnson County her entire Life. Eleanor worked at the First National Bank of Olathe until her marriage to Gene LaCombe of Shawnee in 1948. She worked at First National Bank of Kansas City until she began rearing children. She not only served her family but also served her community working for many years on the Johnson County Kansas election board. She was a member of the St. Joseph Mothers Club and the Olathe Trail Riders.

Eleanor and Gene built their forever home in 1948 where they raised their five children. They were married for 64 years. Eleanor was a stay-at-home mother, focusing on the activities of her children. She was the epitome of a housewife and mother. She did it all. She was a chauffer, maid, laundress, teacher, chef, Blue Bird leader, and a Den Mother. A beautiful example of motherhood.
