Elizabeth Ann Ferguson, 89, of Merriam, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023.
Liz worked for Chevrolet / General Motors as a secretary for 35 years and was highly respected in her position. One of the highlights of her career was when she won a jingle contest for an advertising campaign and the prize was getting to drive a Corvette for a week.
In her 89 years of life, Liz excelled in many athletic activities. In high school, she was an avid tennis player. After high school she excelled in roller skating and went to several competitions with high rankings as the result. After roller skating, she turned to bowling and was in the highest ranking scratch leagues in town, and in 1973 became the first female to bowl an 800 series, which elevated her to professional bowling status. After bowling, she enjoyed ice skating and then later was very involved with ballroom dancing and enjoyed that for many years.
Liz always had a soft spot for all kinds of animals such as birds, dogs and cats. She often enjoyed going to the local pet store just to be around all the puppies and kittens.
Other hobbies included playing the piano, and she loved board games.
She had an infectious laugh that would make even the grumpiest person laugh also!
Everyone who knew her looked up to her and respected her kind heart and generosity.
She is survived by 2 daughters, 4 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
