Elizabeth Ann (Bender) Hagedorn, 88, passed away Friday, June 13, 2014, at Villa St. Francis Nursing Home, Olathe.
"Betty Ann" was born November 16, 1925 in Kansas City, MO to Robert and Louise Bender. She married Henry A. Hagedorn, Sr. on May 20, 1950. They made their home and raised their family in Shawnee. He preceded her in death in October of 2010 after 60 years of marriage.
Betty Ann was a wonderful wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Society.
Survivors include her children, Henry A. (Alice) Hagedorn, Jr. of Lincoln, NE; Janice M. (Joe) Hoytal of Topeka, KS; Lawrence E. (Cindy) Hagedorn of Andover, KS; and Doris A. (Michael) Schroeger of Shawnee, KS; sister, Louise Donovan of Shawnee, KS; 13 grandchildren, Chris (Tonja) Hagedorn, Joey (Shelby) Hoytal, Tim (Erin) Hagedorn, Jennifer (Casey) Wells, Beth (Lee) Masters, Johnny (Amy) Hoytal, Ben (Jessica) Hagedorn, Mike (Tanya) Schroeger, Julie (Grant) Gould, Amy (Clay) Hoelting, Justin Hagedorn, Sarah Schroeger, and Meghan Hagedorn; 25 great-grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren on the way.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Robert, Edward and James Bender.
Visitation will be from 6p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee where the Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am, Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5901 Flint, Shawnee, Kansas 66203, Villa St. Francis of Olathe, or the Alzheimer's Association, 3846 W. 75th St. Prairie Village, KS 66208.
