Elizabeth A. Mann

August 21, 1927 — September 18, 2014

Elizabeth A. Mann passed away at Lakeview Village Care Center on September 18, 2014. She was 87 years old. Elizabeth Ann Olin was born on August 21, 1927 in Kansas City, Kansas, the youngest of the four children of Gust A. and Ruth Marie Magnuson Olin. A lifelong resident of the Kansas City area, Elizabeth graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1945 and Trinity Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing. Elizabeth was a registered nurse at Trinity, Lawrence Memorial Hospital, the University of Kansas Medical Center, and Shawnee Mission Medical Center during her long professional career. She enjoyed nursing administration, especially her nursing supervisor and utilization review positions. Elizabeth loved to sew. She created beautiful clothes for herself, her daughter and granddaughters; drapes and bedspreads and pillows for her homes; lap robes for Lutheran missions; and artfully designed and exquisitely crafted quilt pieces. Elizabeth was a member of Hope and Trinity Lutheran Churches, Chapter AL of the PEO Sisterhood, and Merriam Homemakers. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert Mann, of Lenexa; daughter Sally and son-in-law Patrick Sughroue of Hay Springs, NE; son Kenneth and daughter-in-law Terry Mann of Westwood; and son Drew and daughter-in-law Kim Mann of Olathe; granddaughters Jessica Johnson of Los Gatos, CA, Sara Mann of Lenexa and Melanie Mann of Hutchinson; two great-grandsons, Carter and Chase Johnson; sisters-in-law Marilyn Olin of Mendota Heights, MN and Carol Stroud of Eugene, OR, and brother-in-law Ray Huenefeld of Everett, WA; nieces and nephews; and special friends Diane and Jackie Mares of Prairie Village. Elizabeth's family extends sincere gratitude and heartfelt thanks to the CNAs, LPNs and care staff at Lakeview who treated her with kindness and tenderness during the past months, and to the nurses of Gentiva Hospice for their concern and care for Elizabeth and her family.

A memorial service in Elizabeth's honor will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 11, 2014 in the Heritage Activities room at Lakeview Village with Rev. Dr. Mark Schulz officiating.
