Elizabeth L. “Betty” Stevens

Elizabeth L. "Betty" Stevens, 77, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away, Tuesday, November 29, 2011, in Manhattan, Kansas.

Betty was born February 13, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois, to William and Frances Boettger. She married Gerald A. Stevens in 1959 in Chicago. From Chicago, the family moved to Portage, Michigan, Ft. Worth, Texas, Arlington Heights, Illinois, and moved to Shawnee in 1980.

Betty was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and participated in many local charitable organizations.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Therese Disteldorf and Marie and Frances Boettger.

Betty is survived by her husband, Gerald; sons, Jeff, Bill, and Bob Stevens; daughters, Julie Bigam and Ann Chaffee; sisters, Gertrude and Lourraine Boettger; and grandchildren, Dean and Suzie Chaffee.

Betty was a very kind and loving person that always had time for her children and grand-children. She was very devoted to her family and her church. She will go down in the record books as a "Hall of Fame" mother.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 1, 2011. at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 2, 2011, at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
