Elmer Lloyd Bowers, Jr., 81, of Roeland Park, Kansas, went to be with the Lord May 1, 2013.
Elmer was born in Merriam, Kansas, and attended Kansas School for the Deaf. He was a member of National Fraternal Society of the Deaf, Telecommunications for the Deaf, and Olathe Deaf Senior Citizens. Elmer was the most humble, giving and kind person. He participated in church and community events. He loved his wife, family, art and drama. He was creative, loved to travel and serve God.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Noreen, married almost 57 years; four children and their spouses, Lili and Steve Alt, Loretta and Kirby Phelps, Luella and Mark Wilson, and Daryl Bowers; grandchildren, Kyle, Nathan, Chad, Jackie, Karlie, Tyson, Eric, Travis, Melissa, Kendall, and Dustin; sister, Beverly Kiser; and brother, Buddy Bowers. Elmer was greatly loved and a source of strength. He will be missed by all.
Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 4, 2013, at the Amos Family Funeral Home. Funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Deaf Liberty Baptist Church, 19105 E. Roxbury Lane, Independence, Missouri 64058.
