Eloise K. Thelen

Eloise K. Thelen, age 91, passed away March 14, 2013, at Mid America Rehab Center in Leawood, Kansas.

Eloise K.Thelen was the daughter of Margaret Helbert Knox and John D. Knox, Jr. of Rural Eskridge, Kansas. She was born March 22, 1921, in Topeka, Kansas. She was a 1939 graduate of Eskridge High School and attended Topeka Business College and KU. She represented their paper, the University Daily Kansan, as correspondent at the World Security Conference in San Francisco in 1945.

She came to Kansas City later in 1945 where she worked for the Equitable Life Assurance Society. She had worked in Johnson County for 16 years when she retired on August 31, 1992. Mrs. Thelen had held memberships in the PTA and Dwight Cowles Post 370 of the American Legion Auxiliary in Overland Park, Kansas. In Clay County, Missouri, she was a member of the PTA for years 1955-1966, and was a current member of Northminister Presbyterian Church.

Eloise is survived by her son Greg Thelen of Prairie Village, Kansas; daughter Gwen Woods (Harvey) of Shawnee, Kansas; grandsons, Pat Thelen (Sarah), Brett Woods, granddaughters, Kristin Morris (Brent), Danielle Thelen; and great- grandchildren, Izabella, Isaiah, Anna, Ellie, Will, Myleigh. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Melton Helbert Knox in 1929, and a sister Mary Virginia Knox Furney in 2000.

Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Northminister Presbyterian Church, 1441 NE Englewood Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64118. Inurnment at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Topeka, Kansas.
