Enid A. Elliott-O’Leary was born in Hartford, Kansas, to Joseph and Alice Elliott on February 2, 1939. She grew up on the farm near Hartford Kansas. Enid graduated from Southwestern College with a degree in Home Economics and a Masters of Arts degree from Western Michigan University in Blind Rehabilitation in 1980 after she had been blind for 12 years. After a car accident which left her with several disabilities she made it her life’s mission to help others learn to cope with blindness. Enid worked for both the Veterans Administration and the State of Kansas as a blind rehabilitation teacher. Her teaching often took the form of leading by example.

There will be a Remembrance at the Hartford United Methodist Church on Sunday January 24, 2016, from 2:00-4:00 p.m.

Enid will be laid to rest near her parents in the Hartford Cemetery.
