Essie Y. Gest, 82, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away April 14, 2014 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Essie was born March 31, 1932 in Springfield, Missouri to Rex E. and Mary C. Beckley. In later years, she went back to JCCC and received her accounting certificate along with being a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. She is survived by her son, Steven Gest. Essie was preceded in death by her husband James M. Gest, and her parents.

A Visitation has been scheduled from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Tuesday April 22, 2014 at The Amos Family Funeral Home 10901 Johnson Drive Shawnee, Kansas 66203. A Mass of Christian Burial has been scheduled for 11:00 AM, Wednesday April 23, 2014 at Holy Cross Catholic Church 8311 W 93rd Street, Overland Park, Kansas 66212 with burial at Resurrection Mausoleum in Lenexa, Kansas.
