Esther Clara Prinds, age 96, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 23, 2016, with her son Jerry by her side, at Vintage Park Assisted Living in Louisburg, KS. Esther was born December 17, 1919, in Monticello, Kansas, the youngest child of James and Lillian Morris. She had 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Her father died when she was 6 years old, and her mother moved their family to Kansas City, KS. She attended Rosedale High School and married Harry C. Prinds on July 2, 1939. They lived in Overland Park before moving to Chicago for 12 years, returning to Overland Park to raise two sons, Gary and Jerry.
Esther was an excellent cook and homemaker and heavily involved in doing volunteer work for Westwood Lutheran Church as well as the Danish Brotherhood. After her husband retired, they enjoyed motor home camping and traveling with their camp club, Sunflower Sams. They spent 18 years as Snowbirds wintering in Mission, Texas, and loved potlucks and card games with their friends.
Esther was preceded in in death by her husband, Harry, in January 2000 and her oldest son, Gary, in July 2011. She is survived by her son, Jerry, daughter in law Edith, daughter in law Julie, 3 granddaughters, Karly, Kelley Diggs and husband Josh, and Holly, and one grandson, J. Kevan and wife Manda, 2 great granddaughters, Isabella and Grace, and 1 great grandson, Isaac, and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at Monticello Union Cemetery, 75th St. & Gleason Rd., Shawnee, KS, 11 a.m., Thursday, October 27th.
