Esther Kennaugh Terrill

October 23, 1914 — April 30, 2011

Esther Kennaugh Terrill, 96, was born October 23, 1914, in Lawrence, Kansas, and died April 30, 2011.

She was the daughter of Rev. Charles M. Kennaugh and Edith Mann Kennaugh. She lived in the Argentine area of Kansas City, Kansas, for 71 years. She was an active member and leader of several organizations including P.E.O., Eastern Star, True Kindred, Washington Study Club, Women's Society of Christian Service and Cancer Action. When her children were young, she was active in P.T.A., Cub and Boy Scouts, Bluebird and Campfire Girls, and Job's Daughters. She was a lifelong Methodist and a devoted member of Metropolitan Avenue United Methodist Church for over 70 years. She was a homemaker most of her life, but worked part time at the Want Ad Department of the Kansas City Star from 1959 - 1979.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Curtis A. Terrill (1987), two sons, Charles Willis (1936) and George Irvin (1939), and her brother, Rev. Robert Q. Kennaugh (1995). She is survived by one son, Rev. Robert A. Terrill (Judy); one daughter, Martha Ann Terrill King (Fred); 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 1 great, great grandchild.

For their dedicated and loving care, the family would like to thank Homestead of Olathe Assisted Living and Catholic Community Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Metropolitan Avenue United Methodist Church, 3730 Metropolitan Avenue, Kansas City, Kansas 66106 or to Catholic Community Hospice, 9740 W. 87th Street, Overland Park, Kansas 66212.

Visitation and Funeral Service

Visitation will be from 10-11:00 a.m., Friday, May 6, 2011, at Metropolitan Avenue United Methodist Church, 3730 Metropolitan Avenue, Kansas City, Kansas 66106. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial in Maple Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas.
