Eugene Fred August Limback, 86, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed peacefully from this life surrounded by loved ones.
Gene was born on January 2, 1936 to Ralph and Paula Limback. He grew up on the family farm near Alma, Missouri and was the eldest of 9 children. He attended Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from Alma High School in 1954.
As a young adult, Gene continued to farm. He met the love of his life, Sharon Darlene Scholle, and moved to Kansas City, Kansas to begin their life together following marriage in 1965. Gene attended U.S. Trade School and received a certificate in Diesel & Heavy Equipment Repair in 1969. His career as a diesel mechanic extended across 25 years and he loved what he did for a living.
He was a devoted provider for his family in Johnson County, Kansas, where along with his wife they raised two children, Reid and Chrisanne.
Gene was a lifelong Lutheran and enjoyed being a part of the church. Some of his interests were spending time with his grandchildren, including butterfly festivals and softball games. He also enjoyed bird watching, gardening, playing card games with his family & friends, and being a willing supporter of Darlene’s career, volunteer, and creative efforts.
Gene was predeceased by his parents Ralph and Paula, brother Leslie, sisters-in-law Myra and Vicki, and brother-in-law Forrest. He is survived by his wife Darlene, son Reid of Mission, Kansas, daughter Chrisanne of Charlotte, North Carolina, two grandchildren, Blake and Kaylee, one great-grandchild, Jackson, four brothers, Albert of Corder, MO, Clarence (Donna) of Corder, MO, Richard of Alma, MO, and Stanley (Sharon) Dunkerton, IA, sisters Helen McKeage (Larry) of Higginsville, MO, Betty McKeage of Alma, MO, Kathy Stall (Leonard) of Corder, MO, sister-in-law Valera Limback of Alma, MO and numerous nieces and nephews.
