Eula May Estelle

Eula Mae Estelle, 84, of Shawnee, Kansas, died July 10, 2012, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.

Mother Eula Mae Estelle was born on December 20, 1927, to Rev. Samuel L. Jones and Mamie Simpson Jones, the second of eight children in the Rosedale community in Kansas City, Kansas. Eula attended Walker Elementary and Sumner High Schools in Kansas City, Kansas. Mother Estelle went to be with Lord on July 10, 2012, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.

Mother Estelle met and married Harold A. Estelle, November 24, 1946, in Shawnee, Kansas, they made their home in historic "SouthPark,” Kansas, and together raised seven children .

At an early age, Mother Estelle professed Christ and began her Christian walk. She attended and joined the New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ, Our Lord Church of God In Christ later joining the Philadelphia Baptist Church, Merriam, Kansas, under Rev. Lloyd G. Fleming in 1978 until her health began to fail her. She then joined the Shiloh Community Church, Shawnee, Kansas. Mother Estelle was zealous in her church duties and over the years served in the capacity as a Sunday School teacher, missionary, church treasurer, church secretary and participated in the church choir. Mother Estelle was a member of the Marie B. Garrett Chapter 101, the Heroines of Jericho of the Eastern Star for over 40 years and received many certificates and accolades for her work.

Mother Estelle worked as a domestic and took her job as mother, housewife and Christian seriously. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, excellent cooking, and sweet disposition. She truly loved her family and her church.

She was preceded in death by both parents, four siblings and a daughter Marsha Estelle.

Mother Estelle leaves to celebrate and cherish her memory, her husband of 65 years Harold A. Estelle of the home and children H. Eugene Estelle, Lenexa,Kansas, Jessica A. Estelle, Kansas City,Kansas, Phillip E. Estelle (Julie), Chino Hills, California, Claudia Diane Brown, St. Pedro, California, Evelyn Auten, Shawnee, Kansas, and Keith Estelle (Barbara ) Long Beach, California.

Sixteen grandchildren: Tongela Bloodworth, Matt, Aaron, Carolee , Brandon, Keisha, Phillip Jr., Melissa Estelle; James, Jason, Sonya Brown; Muammar and Malik Calloway, Tressa (Bryant) Adams, Francheska, April, Keith Jr., Estelle.

Eight great grandchildren: Joey, Quinton, Addison Estelle, Candace Bloodworth, Anthony Estelle, Kiera, Ayanna, Sydney Adams.

One Great-Great Grandchild: Akira Palmer.

Siblings: Leroy Jones, Kansas City, Missouri, Charlene Jones Cox, Sandra Myers, Myrtlene Jones-Gaines all of Phoenix, Arizona, and Margaret Ann Brown, Denver, Colorado.

Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Friday, July 20, 2012, at the Shiloh Community Church, 13622 W. 62nd Street, Shawnee, Kansas. Funeral will immediatly follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery, at 1:30 p.m., Monday, July 23, 2012.
