Evelyn L. Skiles Kobets

Mom died peacefully on June 21, 2013, at the age of 93. She was born in 1919 in Wolbach, Nebraska, the third of five children of A. J. and Paulena Skiles all of whom preceded her in death. She grew up in Kansas City, Kansas, and married Ernest Kobets who, sadly, died in 1964.

She is survived by their children, Barbara (Robert) Clark, Jr. of Westwood, Kansas, Ernest (Susan) Kobets, Jr., of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Kathy Lichtenwalter. She leaves thirteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Mom was a hardworking, gregarious, upbeat woman who gathered friends to her all her long life. A faithful Catholic, talented seamstress, avid bowler and a devotee of Bingo and the "Boats", she was first and foremost a giving, loving Mother. We were blest to have her in our lives.

The family thanks the staff at Indian Creek Nursing Center for their years of care and kindness and to Heartland Hospice.

Visitation will be from 9:30-10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 23rd and Parallel Parkway, Kansas. Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 10:00 a.m. Interment in the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas.
