Evelyn M. Mischlich, 88, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, formerly of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2009 at the Excelsior Springs Convalescent Center.
Evelyn was born September 26, 1920 in Kansas City, Kansas, to Maximillian and Amelia Streck. Evelyn was a lifelong Kansas City area resident. On October 4, 1941 she married John A. Mischlich in Kansas City, Kansas. He preceded her in death in October of 2000. She moved to Shawnee in March of 1954. Evelyn was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She retired from Hallmark Cards in 1980 as a Purchase Systems Analyst after twenty years of service.
Evelyn is also preceded in death by her three sisters, Elizabeth, Mary and Emma and a brother Joseph. She is survived by her son John K. Mischlich and his wife Dianne of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; two grandsons, Matthew J. Mischlich, Avondale, Arizona; and Timothy J. Mischlich and wife Tina of Kearney, Missouri. Two great granddaughters, Kaylea and Allison of Kearney, Missouri and many nieces, nephews and friends also survive her.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3846 W. 75th Street, Prairie Village, Kansas 66208.
Visitation and Funeral Mass
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 26, 2009 at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. A Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 27 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shawnee, Kansas. Burial will follow Mass in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
