Faith C. Steward

d. July 12, 2017

FAITH C. STEWARD of Overland Park, Kansas, died July 12, 2017, of natural causes.  She was 94.

Faith was loved by family and friends.  She was a retired RN at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita.  Faith retired as House Supervisor.  She was a graduate of the St. Francis School of Nursing.

Faith loved family, her church, travel, reading, and art.  She spent more than 30 years as a docent at the Wichita Art Museum.  Faith especially loved leading tours for children.  She hoped to infect those young patrons with her passion for art.  She had a special way of connecting the art to something personal to the kids.

Faith was born on a farm near Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Charles and Carrie Wright.  Her family moved when she was a young girl to central Iowa.  She grew up in that area, settling in Marshalltown where she eventually met Robert Steward, her future husband.  Robert preceded Faith in death in 2008.

Faith married Robert in 1941 and soon followed her husband to a number of Army Air Corp bases as he trained for his role in World War II.  They eventually settled in Wichita in 1952.

Faith loved her name as she was indeed a woman of faith.  She was a follower of Jesus Christ and shared her belief through both words and actions.  She attended a number of churches over the decades and was always very active, being especially involved with children's activities and missions.

Faith is survived by four sons: Marty Steward of Wichita, Kent (Deb) Steward of Hays, Craig (Vickie) Steward of Wichita, and David (Lois) Steward of Overland Park; seven grandchildren: Jake, Kat, Josh, Zach, Jamie, Alana, and Brian; and four great-grandchildren:  Finnegan, Evelyn, Rook, and Gabriella.

Memorial Service will be Saturday, July 15, 10:00 a.m., at Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas.  Burial at Greenwood Cemetery, Wichita, Kansas, 4:00 p.m. Saturday, July 15.

Gifts can be sent in Faith's memory to the Wichita Art Museum, 1400 West Museum Boulevard, Wichita, KS 67203.
