Fermon “Alan” Whistler

July 22, 1956 — September 19, 2015

Fermon "Alan" Whistler, 59, of Roeland Park, KS passed away September 19th at his home. He was born July 22, 1956 in Manhattan, KS.

He is survived by his wife Rebecca Kathleen Smith; parents Bill and Jackie Whistler of Fairway, KS; brother, Jerry L. Whistler and wife LeeAnn of Lawrence, KS; sister Susan D. Schwemmer and husband Neil of Augusta, KS, three nieces; Aubrie (Schwemmer) Lockamy and husband Trever, Augusta, KS, Courtney Schwemmer, Augusta, KS and Ashley Schwemmer of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and a brother-in-law; Tracy E. Greenstreet of Gardner, KS.

Alan and Becky shared a happy life together for 24 years. Their little dog Baxter, a Boston Terrier rounded out the family.

He was an avid Chiefs, Royals and Jayhawks fan. He loved history, politics, music and movies. He knew everything there was to know about World War II.

Alan lived most of his life in the Kansas City area. He was a Christian who grew up attending the church of God. He attended Shawnee Mission North High School, Johnson County Community College, where he received an Associate's Degree in Electronics. He also attended the University of Kansas. He was a courier for 18 years and was well liked by all for his humor and good nature. He always showed interest in other people's lives. He was a thoughtful, kind and gentle person who spoke well of everyone.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the Amos Family Funeral Home 10901 Johnson Drive Shawnee, KS.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of Johnson County Mental Health 6000 Lamar Avenue Suite 130 Mission, KS 66202.
