Florence L. Wall

d. November 23, 2012

Florence L. Wall, 91, Shawnee, Kansas, passed away Friday, November 23, 2012, peacefully at home surrounded by her family.

Florence was born in Kansas City and raised her family in Roeland Park, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Julia and Boris Koshko. She is survived by her five children; Kathy (Steve) Cook, Patricia Ryan, Julie Wall, John (Patty) Wall and Richard (Linda) Wall. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a brother, Frank Koshko.

Florence delighted in raising her five children and attending their school functions and activities. She worked in sales and non-profit fundraising to support her children. She loved to read and travel, and shared countless stories about her trip to Europe with her children. She especially enjoyed watching her youngest grandson, Mac, grow up. They had a special friendship and she was so proud of his many academic accomplishments.

As a first generation American, Florence passed on her resolve for fairness and justice to her children. She met President Franklin Roosevelt, took her children to see John F. Kennedy, and proudly cast her last vote for President Barack Obama.

Florence and her family wish to thank Dr. Lynn Kallenbach for the wonderful care and compassion she provided. The family thanks Annie Rogers, neighbor, friend and nurse who mother loved dearly. Annie provided care that gave us four more wonderful years with our mother and we are so grateful for her care. The family would also like to thank Kansas City Hospice for the care and comfort for mother and the entire family in the last days of her life.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, November 26, 2012, at the Amos Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 5325 Nieman Road, Shawnee, Kansas; burial in Highland Park Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas.
