Floyd A. Tinsley, 92, of Mission, KS, passed away on December 16th, 2018. He was born on March 3rd, 1926 in Kansas City, MO to Lester and Edna Tinsley. Immediately out of high school, Floyd served in the United States Navy. In 1949, Floyd married Vaughnie. Floyd worked as a teacher starting in the Shawnee Mission School District. After receiving his Master's Degree from Pittsburg State, he later went on to become an Educational Counselor with the United States Air Force. After retirement, he developed his hobby of wood carving. He was an active member of Saint Mark's United Methodist Church and the Merriam Optimist Club. Floyd is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lester, Victor and David. He is survived by his wife, Vaughnie; son, Mark; brothers, Carl and Paul; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 20th from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Saint Mark's United Methodist Church, 6422 Sante Fe Drive, Overland Park, KS 66202. A memorial service will immediately follow at 2:00 PM.
Memorial donations in Floyd's name may be made to Saint Mark's United Methodist Church.
