Francisco Trinidad Chavez, affectionately known as Frankie, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2024, at the age of 80. He was born on July 20, 1943, in Lawrence, Kansas, to his loving parents, Herminia and Francisco Chavez.
Frankie found inspiration in playing the trumpet, painting, sculpting, cooking and simple conversation with others. He never saw a stranger, and enjoyed setting others off balance.
Francisco was a devotional member of the Franciscan Third Order, active in the Cursillo Movement and spent his final days content, creating a statue of St. Joseph and the Christ child for his beloved parish, St. Joseph.
Frank is survived by his wife of 55 years, Darlene, and son, Joseph. He will be remembered by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched with his kindness, wisdom and character. He will be remembered for opening minds, giving perspective and warmheartedness towards all.
The services to celebrate Francisco's life will commence with visitation on Friday, January 19th, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, at the Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee, Kansas. Another visitation will be held on Saturday, January 20th, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00 am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, located at 1133 Johnson Dr. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 am.
Darlene Chavez is welcoming those who knew Frankie to reach out to her by giving her a call to reminisce with stories, or to send flowers or cards with a comforting message.
Francisco's memory will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to have known him. His unbreakable spirit will continue to live through us.
