Gard S. Smith

Gard S. Smith, 86, of Shawnee, passed away Saturday afternoon, October 16, 2010, at Sharon Lane Nursing and Rehab.

Gard was born July 23, 1924, to the late Liggon W. and Clara A. Smith in Bedford, Iowa. He is also preceded in death by a son, William Smith in 1983.

Gard was a supervisor for Kansas City Power and Light for 43 years before retiring in 1986.

Gard is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Ruby M. Smith; two sons Mai The Ho, and James Dayton Smith; a sister Loretta Blattner; three brothers Rodney, Lowell, and Rowland Smith; five grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

The family suggest memorial contributions be made to The Gideon's International, P.O. Box 140800; Nashville, Tennessee 37214-0800 or to the First Baptist Church of Shawnee, 11400 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas 66203.

Funeral Service

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 2010, at the First Baptist Church of Shawnee. Private burial will follow in Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
