Gary Linnenkamp

Gary Douglas Linnenkamp, 78, of Shawnee, KS, passed away on December 15th, 2020. He was born January 3, 1942, in Des Moines, IA, to Alice and Virgil Linnenkamp. Gary is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marietta, children, Brad, Brent (Stephanie), and Heather (Mark Peterman), 4 grandchildren, Jonah, Ben and Katie Linnenkamp and Maisy Peterman. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Jean, Betty and Phyllis. He is survived by his siblings James Linnenkamp, Carol Jeffries, Roberta Linnenkamp and Dennis (Marcia) Linnenkamp.

Gary graduated from Dowling High School in Des Moines in 1960. Always the handyman, Gary started working for Montgomery Elevator in Moline, IL in 1964, installing elevators and escalators all over the Midwest in his 36 years with the company, retiring in 2000. Gary enjoyed travelling, as he and Marietta hit all 50 states, but especially enjoyed visiting Arizona to visit his kids and grandkids. When at home, he liked to tinker with his truck and putz around doing yardwork and fixing things around the house. He had a quirky, dry sense of humor and enjoyed his daily run out for coffee. Gary was a faithful servant, volunteering for the church, from washing trays at the food kitchen, cleaning the church, helping with mailings and anything that was asked of him. He was a good soul, a good man, a good father and wonderful husband and he will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Visitation is set for 9:00 am to 10:00 am, memorial Mass at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 19th, 2020 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 12800 W 75th Street, Shawnee, KS 66216.  Celebration of Life and interment will be at a later date.

Memorial contributions in Gary's name to be made to Good Shepherd Catholic Church or the Parkinson's Foundation.
