Gary Lee Williams

June 17, 1959 — May 2, 2017

Gary Lee Williams, 57, of Independence, MO, went to eternity on May 2, 2017. He was born in San Diego, CA on June 17th, 1959 to Larry and Judy Williams. Gary loved people no matter their ethnicity, nationality, or social status. He did not know a stranger and was always willing to help others. Attending two churches in Kansas City, he delighted in the people with whom he served God. He loved the outreach support that his church family provides. He would say, "Churching is one of my favorite things."

He was hired by United Telecom after graduation from Harrison High School class of 1978 in AR to upgrade telephone offices nationwide. He worked for various telephone companies until he found his home at Sprint. Gary's position at Sprint was second in his life to church and family.

Gary also loved water and sailing, serving as a member of a competition sailing team on Lake Erie. He loved the outdoors, especially the sky and wildlife of Yellowstone. One of his dreams was to spend winter in Yellowstone Park. Gary lived life with gusto, often jumping in with both feet first.

Gary was married to Cindy (divorced). Three sons were born of this marriage: Chris (wife: Jennifer) Williams, KY; Tim (wife: Jennifer) Williams, MO; Brian (wife: Anna) Williams, KY. Other survivors include his parents: Larry and Judy Williams, AR; sisters: Kathy (husband: Kirby) Walker, TX and Michele (husband: Daryl) Freed, AR. A dear friend: Cathy Whayne, AR. Four grandchildren: Kaitlynn, Jesse, Cody, Josephine. Nieces and nephews in AR and TX, as well as many Aunts, Uncles, and cousins spread across the US.
