Gayle L. Stephens

Gayle L. Stephens of Merriam, Kansas passed away on March 31, 2022. She was 83.

Gayle was born to Gilbert Leroy and Mary Alice (Kerr) Parks in Kansas City, Missouri. She married Chuck Mulloy Jr. and they had two children, Kelly and Chuck III. After Chuck passed away she married Dick Stephens and they spent 35 wonderful years together before Dick passed away in 2018.

She came from a long line of civic minded family members as far back as the Suffragette movement and was active working in local politics and serving on Merriam City council for 12 years.

She will be remembered fondly by friends and family as a tireless worker and caring person who went out of her way to help others in need. Gayle was a true lover of nature, all animals and never really had a time when she was without a rescue dog. Her hobbies included reading, gardening, working on jigsaw puzzles, lunches with friends and visiting with neighbors.

She is preceded in death by her husband Dick Stephens and her parents.

Survivors include her two children; Kelly Mulloy and Chuck (Lynne) Mulloy, two grandchildren; Bryan Mulloy and Rachel Mulloy, and two great grandchildren; Brielle Contreras and Brynlee Contreras. As well as Dick's children, Darren Stephens and Sheldon Stephens.

She will be missed.
