Geneva Grace Bucher

September 5, 1933 — June 22, 2021

Geneva Grace (Harrington) Bucher, of Prairie Village, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021, after a brief illness. She was 87. Geneva was born in Oklahoma City to John Joseph and Violet Grace Harrington on September 5, 1933. She had a sister, Anita Christine and a brother, John Joseph Harrington, Jr. Her family moved from Oklahoma City to Coffeyville when she was young. She attended Holy Name Catholic School in Coffeyville, Ursuline Academy of Paola, and Coffeyville Community College. In 1956 she married her husband of 56 years, Stephen Bucher. Together they had 5 children, Joseph (Betty) Louisburg, KS, Stephanie, Susan (Dave), Overland Park, KS, Lisa (Rob), Spring Hill, KS, Peggy (Roger) Pittsburg, KS. They had 7 grandchildren (Emily, Nicole, Anthony, Ryan, Lindsey, Bobby, and Abbie) and one great granddaughter (Brexley). Geneva worked for many years in the insurance industry. She worked for Winston Insurance Agency in Coffeyville. Geneva and Steve moved to Joplin, Missouri shortly after they married. Stephen was transferred to Kansas City with the Sherwin-Williams Paint Company in 1961. They moved to Prairie Village where they remained until death. Prior to her retirement Geneva worked for Physicians Reference Laboratory as an account representative. Geneva loved the outdoors, westerns on television, and the game show Jeopardy. She especially liked to go crappie fishing. She enjoyed the company of her grandchildren with whom she spent a great deal of time. She also enjoyed being a great grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband, Stephen, and her daughter, Stephanie. A graveside service honoring her life will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 26 at Calvary Cemetery, Coffeyville, Kansas.
