Bill Brent, 82, passed away September 5, 2012, at his home.
He was born on July 24, 1930, at Ft. Mills, Corregidor, U.S. Territory of Philippine Island, the son of Col. George William Brent, Sr. and Enid Brent. He joined the Air Force in September 1950 where he earned his pilot wings. He was assigned to the 341st Aerial Refueling Sq., Castle AFB, Merced, California. Following his Honorable discharge as 1st Lt. on February 1,1956, he was employed as a pilot by Trans World Airlines, based in San Francisco, CA, Chicago, Illinois and finally Kansas City, Missouri, retiring August 1, 1986, as Captain.
He married Carol Ware on November 5, 1958, in Burlingame, California. Bill served as a volunteer fireman for the City of Lake Quivira, Kansas, and following his TWA retirement, he also served as City Clerk. He later became the Assistant Fire Chief and then the Chief, serving a total of 28 years on the department. Following his fire department service he was elected to the City Council of Lake Quivira, Kansas.
He was a member of the Plain ‘ol A's, a model A Ford Club of Kansas, and proudly drove his 1930 Ford Model A Sport Coupe in many parades and shows.
Bill is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol; son, Christopher R. Brent (Stacey) of Rochester, Minnesota; daughter Kathryn E. McDermott (Charles) of Silverthorne, Colorado; grandson David J. Brent of Rochester, Minnesota; and sister Marien T. Brent of Mobile, Alabama.
