George E. “Dutch” Koehler

George E. "Dutch" Koehler, Overland Park, KS passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2018 at the Tallgrass Creek Retirement Community, Overland Park, KS.

Dutch was born Feb. 6, 1927 in Overland Park, KS to Arthur R. and Vera Irene Koehler. He was a 1945 graduate of Shawnee Mission Rural High School. Dutch was a veteran of the US Navy during WWII serving on the USS Wiess. He was an over the road truck driver for Consolidated Freightways, having three million safe miles.

Dutch was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Koehler and two sons, Victor and Claude Koehler. Survivors include his wife, Mary Koehler; sister, Claudyne Newton, Sunrise Beach, MO; two granddaughters, Melinda Barbi and Jenny Koehler; two great grandchildren, two step sons, five step grandchildren, 15 step great grandchildren and two step great great grandchildren. To keep with Dutch's spirit, dress will be casual.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14 at the Amos Family Funeral Home; burial in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the American Cancer Society.
