George William Roberts, Sr., 89, Shawnee, KS passed Jan. 29, 2023 at his home. Visition will be 9:30-10:30 am, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am, Friday, Feb. 3, 2023 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church; burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
George was born August 4, 1933 in Kansas City, KS to George F. and Rose Roberts. He was a graduate of Wyandotte High School. Following school he went in the US Army during the Korean War. On June 27, 1953, George married Gerry Smith in Kansas City, KS. George retired from the Santa Fe Railroad after 42 years of service.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Gerry Roberts on Jan. 30, 2014. He is survived by his son, George W. Roberts, Jr., Kansas City, KS; daughter, Kathy Niese, Lenexa, KS; brother Jim and wife Ann Roberts, Kansas City, KS and two grandsons, Austin Niese and Bret Niese. (arr. Amos Family Funeral Home)
